14 days to deposit Rs 2000 notes in banks

14 days left to deposit a Rs 2000 note in the bank. After that these notes will be of no use. People holding Rs 2,000 notes can deposit them in the bank by September 30 or exchange them for other notes.

According to RBI, notes worth Rs 2000 will be withdrawn from circulation. These notes will be valid until September 30th.

Following the information from the Reserve Bank, people had started the process of depositing Rs 2,000 notes back into the bank. In 2016, the central government had removed Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes from circulation.

No more notes coming now

After the Reserve Bank of India removed the Rs 2,000 note from circulation and after the last date of September 30, people started exchanging the Rs 2,000 notes they had in the banks. There were many quotations in the beginning, but these have gradually decreased. Only 10 notes ie up to Rs 20 thousand can be exchanged at a time.

Earlier they used to take but not give.

According to the data, on May 16, 2023, a general notification for withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes was issued. If banking sources are to be believed, RBI had in the last month of the year 2020 issued a circular targeting all banks. Due to this, Rs 2000 notes which normally come to banks were not returned. Now after September 30, the Rs 2000 note will be out of circulation.
