Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine just 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the border with Russia, has been under frequent bombardment since Moscow decided to invade in February 2022.

After the strikes, the mayor said some residential buildings were destroyed and there were no military targets in the area.

There was no comment from Moscow.

One person was injured in the attack of Ukrainian drones in the Kursk region of Russia

On Tuesday morning, authorities called for the evacuation of about 3,000 residents of more than two dozen villages near the frontline in Kharkiv region, citing increased Russian attacks.

Three civilians were also injured and residential buildings were damaged in the southern city of Odessa as a result of a drone attack on Tuesday night, said Oleg Kiper, head of the regional military administration.

“A 62-year-old man was wounded by shrapnel… a woman born in 1955 and a young woman born in 1995 were wounded,” he said.

Meanwhile, Russia said it repelled an attack on the border town of Belgorod, 80 kilometers from Kharkiv, on Wednesday morning.

“Air defense destroyed seven Ukrainian missiles and four drones over the Belgorod region,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that there is no information about the victims yet.

Russian forces seized part of Kharkiv Oblast shortly after invading Ukraine in February 2022, and have attempted to occupy the region despite losing ground there.
