Mumbai: The death toll from a house collapse in Mumbai has risen to 19. Among the dead were 18 men and a woman. At least 13 people were injured. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims.

A four-storey house in Naiknagar, east of Kurla in Mumbai, collapsed late Monday night. A rescue team from the fire brigade and police arrived there. Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray visited the spot. “The municipality should evacuate dangerous houses,” he said. Those houses have to be vacated and demolished without harming the residents of the area.
