Nagpur : During the seven months from January 1, 2022 to July 30, 2022, 504 cases of chikungunya were detected in the state. But the health department is relieved as no patient has died. Meanwhile, the number of patients is less than in the last three years.
Chikungunya is a disease caused by a specific virus. It causes fever, headache, joint pain, nausea, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue etc. After the fever subsides, joint pain persists for several days. Fatigue is also high, even if the patient recovers, he has to rest for a few days. Patients of this disease are constantly found in the state. 1 thousand 646 patients of this disease were found in Maharashtra in 2019. That number dropped to 782 in 2020 when the coronavirus struck. In 2021, 2 thousand 526 patients were reported due to the recurrence of this disease. But between January 1, 2022 and July 30, 2022, the number of patients has come down to 504, social activist Abhay Kolarkar has brought forward in the Right to Information. But this year it is raining in many parts of the state. Therefore, just as the number of mosquitoes is likely to increase everywhere, this disease is also likely to increase. This number of patients was confirmed by an official from the Pune office of the Public Health Department.
