8 gates to Bargi Dam closed, now 5 gates open |  The water level in the ghats of the Narmada river in Jabalpur will now decrease.

Madhya Pradesh has been drenched due to the rains from the monsoon system coming from the Bay of Bengal. Due to intermittent and at some places heavy rains in Jabalpur for the past few days, 13 out of 21 gates of Bargi Dam were opened. Due to which 3288 cusecs of water was released. Due to continuous rain in the district since last two days, 8 out of 13 gates have been closed this afternoon. Water is released from five ports, all ports are open up to a height of about 1 meter.

According to the dam management, the water level of Narmada river will also decrease due to closure of 8 gates. It is noteworthy that Bargi Dam management had opened 7 gates at 12 noon on Friday. But due to increased inflow of water, 6 more gates were opened at 5pm. Afterwards, 13 out of a total of 21 gates to Bargi Dam were open.

However, the rain quota has been completed in Jabalpur. The average rainfall in Jabalpur district is considered to be 52 inches. So far, about 53 and a half inches of rain has been recorded in Jabalpur.
