A statement on behalf of the coroner Ian Arrow outlined the bizarre incident in Plymouth, Devon, last month.

It revealed that an electric car was struggling to park and “carried” another car parked at Plimstock Albion Oaks rugby club into Alfie, causing a fatal stampede.

The statement read: “(Alfie) was standing in the back of the family car changing his boots after seeing his brother play rugby.

Then a car parked behind the family car hit another electric propulsion vehicle that was trying to park.

He added, “This car moved the stopped car forward and crushed Alfi between the two cars.

Alfie was taken to Derriford Hospital, but unfortunately passed away.

His official cause of death was given at the brief hearing as blunt force thoracic injuries.

Police continue to file an appeal for witnesses and any dashcam footage of the tragedy.

A 55-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving has been released on bail until May.

Expressions of appreciation poured in for little Alfie after the February 19th incident.

In a statement released in the days following his death, his family said: “Our precious little boy Alfie was involved in a horrific incident where he sadly lost his life.

“This left a huge hole in our entire family.

“Alfie was not only our son and brother, but also a grandson, cousin, nephew and friend to so many people.

“He was our very own light, funny, and precious little guy.

“Our hearts are absolutely broken. We are so numb and struggling to understand why this happened.

To Alfie Moss, we miss you dear and will never forget you.

“Fly high baby. Thank you for the best seven years of our lives. All the love we have Mom, Dad, Jack and Teddy.”

Plymstock Oaks RFC, where Alfie was a member, said on Facebook: “It is with deep shock and sadness that we regret to inform you of the tragic loss of a young man’s life to us today.

Our deepest condolences to the family and their friends at this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers are continuing to investigate the collision, which occurred at approximately 11.10am on Wimbry Road near Plimstock Albion Oaks rugby club.
