A man has been arrested in connection with a claim of responsibility by the New IRA for the shooting of senior detective John Caldwell.
The man was arrested in Derry on Saturday.
It comes after a message was posted on a wall in the city purporting to be from the New IRA claiming responsibility for the attempted murder of Mr Caldwell.
Police said the New IRA was the main line of inquiry in the investigation.

The investigator remains in critical condition in hospital after being shot multiple times at a sports complex in Omagh last month.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating the attempted assassination of Chief Detective John Caldwell on 22 February have arrested a man in connection with a claim of responsibility following the attack.
The man was arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He was arrested on the morning of Saturday 18 March after a search of a property in Derry / Londonderry.
“He has been taken to the Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.”
