York Regional Police said several people were sent to the hospital after a suspected poisoning at a Markham restaurant.

Police say the possible poisoning at the Delight Restaurant & BBQ in the area of ​​Highway 48 and Bur Oak Avenue is not a crime at this time.

York Region Public Health said it is investigating reports that multiple people became “seriously” ill after eating at the restaurant on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone dining at the restaurant or ordering takeout or delivery is asked to discard any food from the restaurant.

The public health agency says the restaurant remains closed pending an investigation and is cooperating with investigators.

He also said he could not confirm the number of people currently hospitalized or the cause of the illness.
