The total assets declared by eight national political parties in 2021-22 stood at Rs 8,829.16 crore, up from Rs 7,297.62 crore in 2020-21, electoral body Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said in its report. In its report, the electoral reform group has analyzed the assets and liabilities declared by BJP, Congress, NCP, BSP, CPI, CPI(M), TMC and NPEP for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
BJP’s assets increased by 21.17 percent
According to the ADR, in the financial year 2020-21, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had declared assets worth Rs 4,990 crore, which increased by 21.17 percent to Rs 6,046.81 crore in 2021-22. Meanwhile, the declared assets of the Congress in 2020-21 were Rs 691.11 crore, which increased by 16.58 percent to Rs 805.68 crore in 2021-22.
Decline in declared annual assets for BSP
The report said the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is the only national party to have shown a decline in its annual declared assets. Between 2020-21 and 2021-22, BSP’s total assets declined by 5.74 percent to Rs 690.71 crore from Rs 732.79 crore. ADR said the total assets of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) increased from Rs 182,001 crore to Rs 458.10 crore in 2020-21, an increase of 151.70 percent.
