Dubai: Afghanistan qualified for the Super Four stage by defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the Group B match of the Asia Cup T20 tournament.

Afghanistan achieved Bangladesh’s target of 128 runs in the 19th over for the loss of 3 wickets. On behalf of Afghanistan, Najeebullah Zadran played an unbeaten innings of 43 runs off 17 balls with the help of 6 sixes.

In the match Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. Bangladesh scored 127 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Mossadegh Hussain scored an unbeaten 48 runs for Bangladesh. Apart from this, Mahmudullah scored 25 runs and Mehdi Hasan scored 14 runs.
Rashid Khan and Mujeebur Rehman took 3 and 3 wickets respectively for Afghanistan.

On behalf of Afghanistan, opener Rehmanullah walked out after scoring 11 runs, Hazratullah Zazai returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs. Apart from this the captain Mohammad Nabi scored 8 runs. Ibrahim played an innings of 42 runs off 41 balls while Najeeb hit 6 sixes off 17 balls. Scored 43 runs with help.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mossadegh and Saifuddin took one wicket each for Bangladesh.

Earlier, in their first match, Afghanistan easily defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets.

It should be noted that the top 6 teams in the Asia Cup have been divided into 2 groups, Pakistan in Group A along with India and Hong Kong while Group B includes teams from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the Super Four stage, which begins on September 3. The final between the two best teams in the Super Four will be played on September 11.
