Kaushambi (UP) September 12 (Language) A joint team of Charwa police station and SOG (Special Operation Group) of Kaushambi district arrested four accused involved in the robbery incident after an encounter on Tuesday morning.

A police officer said two accused were shot and have been admitted to the hospital.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said a bag containing gold and silver jewelery and a mobile phone were looted from precious metal businessman Anup Soni, a resident of Samaspur in Charwa police station area, by three unknown bikers at gunpoint. Police teams were formed to solve the robbery incidents.

The SP said that the SOG and Charva police station team this morning received information from the informer that the accused were distributing the looted goods in Gungwa Ka Bagh.

He said: “On receiving information, a joint team of Charwa police station and SOG surrounded the accused in the Gungwa garden. The accused found themselves surrounded and opened fire on the police team.”

He said that in the police retaliatory firing, two accused Vijay Kumar Soni (resident of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh) and Ashish Nishad (resident of Teliarganj, Prayagraj) were shot and both have been admitted to the district hospital.

Apart from this, two other accused Suraj Pasi (Kaushambi) and Rahul Pasi (Prayagraj) have also been arrested.

Srivastava said looted gold and silver jewellery, mobile phone, bicycle used in the robbery, a 32-bore pistol, a 315-bore pistol and an electronic jewelery weighing machine have been recovered from the arrested accused’s possession.
