With the latest addition to their squad at Alvaro Vazquez, FC Goa have strengthened their attacking ranks ahead of the 2022-23 season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
The 31-year-old striker does not need any introduction to the country’s sports fans, who played for the Kerala Blasters in the 2021-22 ISL, scoring eight times in 23 matches.
On Wednesday, in his first press conference as FC Goa player, Vazquez spoke on a number of topics, including the reasons for joining Gores, the team’s hopes for the upcoming season, ideas about ISL and much more. Something is involved.

“Truth be told, playing in India has been a wonderful experience,” Spenard said. “I did not expect that there would be so many football lovers in India and they would welcome me so much.
“At the end of last season, FC Goa showed the most interest, and they had a clear idea of how I would fit into their plans,” Vazquez revealed. “My agent obviously informed me about the club’s interest first, and then I talked to some of the players and the coach (Carlos Pina) before they made up their minds.”
The former Spain Junior International believes that having players and staff with previous league experience will help FC Goa.
“It’s good that coach Carlos (Pina) has played in the league and knows. We also have players who know what it’s like to play in the ISL. We are already in touch with each other and are urging each other to train hard, as the ultimate goal is for the team to win matches and trophies, ”he said.
Vazquez also talked about how he likes to put his team’s goals ahead of his own. “Collective success is the primary focus. If we are able to perform well as a team, it further means that we have performed well at the individual level as well.
In FC Goa, players like Alvaro Vazquez Ferran Corominas and Igor Angulo will be seen following in the footsteps of players who have developed a habit of scoring goals in the colors of the club. Yet he is selfless.
“I know Coro together at Espanyol. I know he performed well in India. In terms of living up to his name, obviously I will do my best, but first and foremost. I will focus more on helping the team as much as possible.
“It’s my job, I’ve done it all my life, and I’m ready for it,” he added.
The striker signed off with a message for his fans.
“I have nothing but words of thanks and respect for the fans of my former club Kerala Blasters. I am confident that this is how I will build a relationship with FC Goa fans. Since we will no longer compete in the bio-bubble, I look forward to meeting them and getting to know them better, “concluded Alvaro Vazquez.
