Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar has announced another good move for prisoners.
According to details, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has ordered the release of newspapers for the inmates in the jail barracks. The inmates will now be able to read newspapers in the jail barracks.
According to sources, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar issued instructions to Additional Chief Secretary Home and Secretary Information in this regard.
Usman Bazdar said that provision of newspapers for prisoners in Barracks should be ensured. Regular newspapers should be provided to the inmates in the barracks of all the jails.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that a historic package of Rs5.5 billion for prisoners and jail employees would bring a real change in the system. This historic package will pave the way for far-reaching and revolutionary changes in the prison system.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar said that this is not just a package but a comprehensive program to provide relief to the needs of prisoners and jail staff.
Usman Bazdar said that he has visited more than 20 jails. The ordeal that prisoners go through is indescribable. We have set out to fix the outdated system. If this system is correct today, then tomorrow the prisoners will come out of this changed system as good citizens.
It may be mentioned that a reduction in the sentences of prisoners has been announced in Punjab on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has said in this regard that on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, the sentences of prisoners are being reduced by 60 days.
Usman Bazdar said that exploitation of juvenile prisoners will not be allowed, old laws regarding prisoners will be changed, prisoners are not hateful, crime is hateful, hatred of prisoners should not be done with crime.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that geysers would be installed in Punjab-wide jails in winter, ambulance service would be provided in Punjab-wide jails, facilities would be provided to prisoners in Punjab-wide jails and other facilities including education would be provided to the prisoners.
Usman Bazdar further said that 10th Rehmat-ul-Alamin would be celebrated in jails across Punjab and attention would be given to make prisoners the best citizens of the society.
It may be recalled that on the special directive of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar, a historic package has been prepared for the inmates and jail staff of Punjab jails.
The Punjab Chief Minister visited Central Jail Kot Lakhpat today and also announced a special prison package for the inmates and jail staff.
According to sources, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar also inaugurated TV cable networking system and gym in the jail.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that prisoners are also human beings and they also have rights. It is the responsibility of the state to provide basic human rights to prisoners.
Usman Bazdar says no attention has been paid to the plight of prisoners in the past. Our government has also developed a special package for prison staff with inmates.
