News Updates.
Associate Justice Shah Syed Ahdur Rehman, posted in Udalguri district of Assam, has been under fire since Monday (September 4, 2023) for his tweets about the Hindu community and the Indian Army. These tweets of his are on social media viral Is. He has been a judicial officer of Assam Judicial Service since 2002 and earlier served as Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Sivasagar district of the state.

He had claimed in a tweet in November 2021, “The Indian Army deployed in Kashmir is communal. “Lives matter in Kashmir.” Assistant Sessions Judge (Udalguri) had expressed his support for Kashmiri terrorists by calling them “combatants “.

Shah Syed Ahdur Rehman was also seen raising questions about the integrity of the Indian armed personnel deployed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He had stated, “Sometimes the army is not neutral. “I came across this for the first time when I visited Kashmir as a university student.”
attacks on Hindu religion by tweeting
Apart from spreading rumors against the Indian Army, he has also targeted the Hindu community in his tweets. In the days when anti-Hindu riots broke out in the national capital Delhi, Justice Rehman had tweeted: “Brahmins, run.”

Shah Syed Ahmadur Rahman had made fun of the Hindu community after the attack by Islamists. He jokingly said, “Hindus are in danger, alarm has become necessary now.”

He also made the false claim that India exports beef to Gulf countries and Hindus are at the top of such business. In fact, only karibbeef (buffalo meat) is exported from India, a fact confirmed by BJP minister Nirmala Sitharaman in 2017.

In his tweet in July this year, Justice Rehman sneered: “And these days Hindus are in danger! They will be shot by Muslims in a close encounter.”

The biased Assistant Sessions Judge also claimed, “Look, I’m a judge and I’ve come to the conclusion that looking at the crime graph, Hindus are among the biggest defaulters in loan repayment. Look at the rape graph, it’s only Hindu .“Look at the national crime statistics per caste.” His disturbed mentality is reflected in his tweets.
Responding to a Hindu handle on Twitter, he claimed, “I don’t need to take lessons from you and why are you so worried. Where did you find that India is for Hindus, you don’t even know what the word Hindu means. Clear your mind with positive feelings before criticizing why you have kept sex slaves in Vrindavan.

Not only this, Justice Shah Syed Ahadur Rahman did not shy away from terming the killing of gangster Atiq Ahmed as “Hindu terrorism”. He said, “Within a moment the act of terror was turned into an act of courage by his chanting of Jai Shri Ram. What does JSR mean here, this is Hindu terrorism.”

He was also seen spewing hatred against Hindu saints. He had claimed, “Maulvi and Mufti have never indulged in hate speech or threatened Hindu women with rape. Maybe never. Just to remind respected Hindu Babas.”

Rahman suggested, “Just a reminder to respected Hindu babas that such comments were common among spiritual leaders in the Hindu community. He also said in another tweet, ‘Now spiritual gurus are potential rapists.’
Political comments by a sitting judge
Shah Syed Ahadur Rahman, Assistant Magistrate of Udalguri, left no stone unturned in making political statements on social media. In this he did not even spare his colleagues in the judicial profession.
He heard former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma criticize Justice Abdul Nazeer’s character for the Ayodhya verdict.

He claimed in the tweet, “Saudi King called Modi and expressed his displeasure over RSS terrorists. Modi changed his mood.” He, like other Muslims, was seen spreading hatred against former BJP leader Nupur Sharma on social media, tweeting, “Arrest Nupur Sharma.”
In another tweet, he questioned the Delhi Police, “Delhi Police, who encouraged you not to arrest Nupur.” In February this year, Shah Syed Ahdur Rehman was seen indulging in character assassination of a retired Supreme Court judge over the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict.
He tweeted, “He (Justice Abdul Nazeer) knew it beforehand, judiciary was not like this before, this gentleman destroyed the backbone of judiciary by ruling in favor of Ram Mandir, where there was no evidence.”

Interestingly, on Monday (September 4), Rehman took to social media platforms to inform that his name was being considered for the post of Additional District Judge/District Magistrate.
Shah Syed Ahdur Rahman’s ‘Questionable Loyalty’
OpIndia found that Justice Rahman had filed a petition in the Guwahati court in March 2015. He had filed this petition after he was not considered for promotion from Grade III to Grade II in the Assam Judiciary in 2011.
His name was not on the list for promotion in 2012 due to “questionable integrity”. Officials were also asked to keep an eye on Justice Rehman. The authority referring to the observation of the petitioner Judge Rehman, observed: “The petitioner Judge Rehman was informed about the ACRs (Annual Confidential Rolls) for 2009, 2010 and 2011.

They were rated “Good” in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, he received an “average” rating with the remark “integrity questionable”. Although the “integrity questionable” remark was later somehow removed, the instruction to the authorities to keep Judge Rehman under observation was retained in the annual confidential list.

Shah Syed Ahdur Rehman on Monday (September 4) after being asked about his anti-Hindu background, claimed that he has many friends from the Hindu community. He said, “Most of my friends are from the Hindu community.” As expected, Rahman is followed by the likes of Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Saket Gokhale. As previously caught by the Enforcement Directorate in the crowdfunding fraud case.
