In the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar temple, the doors of the temple were opened at 3 am during the Bhasma Aarti early on Thursday. After anointing Lord Mahakal with water, worship was done with Panchamrit made of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey and fruit juice. Baba Mahakal was divinely adorned with hemp, sandalwood, dry fruits and jewellery.
After offering Tripund and Chandra, ashes were offered to Lord Mahakaal, Lord Mahakaal wore the silver crown of Sheshnag, silver mundamaal and Rudraksha rosary along with a garland of flowers made of fragrant flowers. Offered fruit and sweets.
Devotees who came in large numbers for the Bhasma Aarti received the blessings of Baba Mahakal. Ashes were offered to Lord Mahakal on behalf of Maha Nirvani Akhara. It is believed that after offering ashes, God manifests himself from the formless to the corporeal form.
