Bangladesh Cricket Board named young batsman Najamul Hussain Shanto as the captain of all three formats.
Najamul Hussain Shanto has the experience of interim captain of Bangladesh in all three formats. Now the talented young batsman has been announced as the full-time captain of Bengal Tigers in all three formats.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board took the decision in a board meeting held at the BCB headquarters at the Sher Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on February 12.
Sports Minister and BCB President Najamul Hasan Papon said that we have discussed the captaincy for a long time. The board has decided to appoint Najamul Hasan Shanto as the captain in all three formats for this year.
Shanto, 25, led Bangladesh in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan in the home-and-away series against New Zealand last year.
Under his leadership, Bangladesh won the T20 and ODI in New Zealand for the first time in December 2023.
His first challenge as captain is the home series against Sri Lanka starting next month, which includes matches across all three formats.
In addition, Bangladesh’s first captain Ghazi Ashraf Hussain Lipu was appointed as the chief selector by BCB. He succeeds Minhajul Abedin Nannu.
