Mumbai, Sep 8 (Language) A 30-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested here for allegedly sexually assaulting a female crew member on a Muscat-Dhaka flight via Mumbai. A police officer gave this notice on Friday.
The incident took place early on Thursday before the Vistara flight landed at the Mumbai International Airport, he said.
“The accused has been identified as Mohammed Dulal and was traveling from Muscat to Dhaka via Mumbai in a connecting flight,” police said. Half an hour before the plane landed in Mumbai, Dulal got up from his seat and tried to hug and kiss the female flight attendant.”
They said when other crew members and passengers tried to stop him, he became angry with them.
The officer said the accused passenger did not even listen to the flight captain. The captain read the instructions for the red card warning that he would declare him an unruly passenger.
He said that after the plane landed at the Mumbai airport, the passenger was handed over to the security forces who took him to the Sahar police station.
Police said that based on the complaint of the support team member, an FIR was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and he was arrested.
He said the accused passenger was produced before a local court which sent him to police custody till Friday.
