Those violating traffic laws in Karachi, beware as challenges will now be sent home.
According to ARY News, it has been decided to issue challans to traffic signal violators in Karachi using CCTV, for which ANPR cameras will be installed on highways.
DIG Ahmad Nawaz says that ANPR system is working in Islamabad and Lahore, now cameras will be installed at 26 switches in Karachi in the first phase.
He said the ANPR camera system will be linked to the excise department and summonses will be sent home for violating traffic rules.
It should be noted that last year the Sindh government had decided to strictly implement the ban on heavy traffic to improve traffic flow in Karachi.
Sindh Chief Secretary said Sindh government will crack down on vehicles with black glasses, sirens, bar lights, illegal number plates.
He said the vehicles with fancy number plates should be impounded and action should also be taken against those making illegal fancy number plates.
