Book Fair “City with Culture” in Pueblo Libre receives 17,000 visitors

During the 12 days of the fair, the organization reports the attendance of more than 17,000 visitors, who have had at their disposal a wide editorial offer with prices within everyone’s reach. In addition to a varied cultural program among which the book presentations, talks and the series of concerts for the Day of the Musician have stood out.

Added to the program is the presentation of the book “La iguana de Casandra” Poesía selecta (1983-2021) by Miguel Ángel Zapata, published by Ciudad Librera and the Fondo de Cultura Económica. The comments will be in charge of the author, Miguel Ildefonso (Peru), Víctor Manuel Mendiola (Mexico) and María Casiraghi (Argentina). The presentation will be in virtual mode through the Ciudad Librera facebook page.

The “Ciudad con Cultura” book fair is organized by Ciudad Librera and the Peru Economic Culture Fund under the auspices of the Municipality of Pueblo Libre. Admission is free and is attended with the proper biosafety protocol, until November 28 from 11 am to 8:30 pm at Parque Candamo, Av. Sucre, block 3, Pueblo Libre.

International participation

From November 26 to 28, the fair will be attended by the embassies of Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Morocco, invited as part of the celebrations of the next anniversary of the 200 years of creation of the historic district of Pueblo Libre in April 2022. Each Embassy will exhibit national works by authors from their country, handicrafts or works by their compatriots in Peru.

El Salvador will exhibit works by its contemporary and classic authors, such as Salarrue, Claudia Lars, Francisco Gavidia, Alfredo Espino, Miguel Ángel Espino and Manlio Argueta; in addition to handicrafts and products made by Salvadorans. Costa Rica, for its part, will exhibit a collection of approximately 80 novels and poems by Costa Rican authors such as Óscar Núñez Olivas and Dorelia Barahona Riera, donated by the Costa Rican community in Peru.

Morocco will exhibit books on Moroccan literature and some of its most prominent magazines at its stand. Mexico, for its part, will exhibit the books from the Fund for Economic Culture catalog, which can be purchased at the Fund’s stand. There will also be sale of Mexican crafts.

Finally, Guatemala will exhibit a collection of works by the Nobel Prize winner for Literature Miguel Ángel Asturias, as well as stories, poetry and novels by Guatemalan authors, such as Augusto Monterroso, Carolina Sarti, Miguel Ángel Asturias, Rey Rosas, among others.

The City with Culture Book Fair was already in Magdalena del Mar, Surco, Rímac, Los Olivos and in the month of December in San Isidro. In this way, it seeks to decentralize the cultural agenda by visiting the districts of Lima and Provinces.
