Boris Johnson has reportedly knighted his father Stanley as part of his resignation honors list.

The Times reports that the former prime minister, who left office last September, nominated Stanley Johnson for the honor. A spokesman for Boris Johnson said: “We do not comment on the honour.”

The PA news agency has contacted Stanley Johnson for comment.

The newspaper said the former prime minister’s list of nominations included as many as 100 names and was “much longer” than that of his predecessors Theresa May and David Cameron. The list is currently under Cabinet Office scrutiny.

Any tribute to Stanley Johnson would raise questions for the former Conservative Party leader. He previously faced accusations of nepotism in 2020, after his brother, Jo Johnson, was nominated for a peerage.

In 2021, senior Tory MP Caroline Knox and a journalist publicly accused former MEP Stanley Johnson of influencing them at Tory party conferences.

Knox, chair of the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee, accused him of punching her in the bottom and making a lewd comment at the Conservative Party conference in 2003.

Stanley Johnson has denied those incidents, saying he “doesn’t remember Caroline Knox at all”.
