The England striker has been banned until January by the Football Association after being found guilty of breaching gambling rules.

Tony, 27, has two years remaining on his £20,000-a-week Gtech contract.

The Bee Chiefs were increasingly resigned to losing their star player, who had attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.

But The Mail claims Brentford could look to show their support for Tony amid his ban by offering him a new deal.

Club bosses believe they are unlikely to get the £50m asking price this summer, given his suspension.

They could seek to give Tony a pay raise, albeit one less than the £150,000-per-week he could get elsewhere.

In turn, the bees can give their star man a positive release clause, protecting his value in the process.

Tony has been on fire this season, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank’s side go into their last two matches and still have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe, albeit with Toni set to miss both.

Brentford could in theory terminate Tony’s current deal for breach of contract, saving them £640,000 in wages in the short term.

However, they will not consider this option, given the millions in conversion value they stand to lose.

Despite their backing of Tony, Brentford are considering transfer options for the striker.

According to talkSPORT, the Bees are chasing Coventry ace Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sky Blues are set to demand no less than £25m for their star striker, regardless of whether they are promoted to the Premier League.

Mark Robins’ men will face Luton in the Championship Final next week.
