Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that air defense is of special importance in the overall defense system.
According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Air Defense Center Karachi, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of the Chinese-made HQ9P weapon system in the Army Air Defense. ۔
According to ISPR, Lieutenant General Hamoodul Zaman Khan, Commander Army Air Defense briefed Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa while Commander Air Defense also briefed the Army Chief about the weapon system.
ISPR says senior Chinese officials were also present at the inauguration of the Chinese-made air defense system.
On the occasion, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa observed the incorporation of High to Medium Air Defense System in Pakistan Army Air Defense while the Army Chief also highlighted the importance of Air Defense in the defense of the motherland.
On the occasion, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Air Defense is of special importance in the overall defense system, adding that Air Force and Army Air Defense are doing exemplary work for the defense of air borders.
The Army Chief said that the new air defense system is capable of destroying various air targets including warplanes, cruise missiles and BVR missiles.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa also said that an air defense system equipped with long-range surface-to-air missiles could hit an attacker at a distance of more than 100 km.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa further said that Pak-China Strategic Partnership and Defense Cooperation is for the stability of the region and the inclusion of high-tech system will help in tackling the threats.
