All expenses are being borne by the hospital, said Dr. Yasin Awan
For the first time, free orthoplasty has been launched at Gujranwala Government Hospital.
An orthoplasty of a joint that has failed due to an accident or old age is being performed at a social security hospital.
Dr. Yasin Awan, ward in-charge of the government hospital, said that the operation to change the joint is very expensive. Earlier we used to transfer it to another hospital but now we are doing orthoplasty here.
The ward in-charge says that all the expenses are being borne by the hospital and so far 12 patients have been rehabilitated.
It used to cost three to five lakh rupees to have an operation from a private hospital, but the Social Security Hospital does not charge anything from the operation to the medicine.
