Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has said that NAB’s anti-corruption strategy has been successful.
According to details, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal in which the overall performance of NAB was reviewed.
Presiding over the meeting, Javed Iqbal said that NAB’s anti-corruption strategy has been successful, NAB recovered Rs 539 billion from corrupt elements.
According to the NAB statement, NAB has received 51,723 complaints since its inception and out of them 491,358 complaints have been disposed off.
The NAB statement said that NAB approved the investigation of 16,188 complaints while the verification process of 15,391 complaints was completed.
The NAB statement also said that NAB approved 10,297 inquiries out of which 9,260 inquiries were completed while NAB approved 4,693 investigations out of which 4,353 were completed.
The NAB statement further said that NAB has received Rs. 819.645 billion directly and indirectly and deposited it in the national exchequer during this period and at present 1278 references of Rs. 1335 billion are pending in various accountability courts. ۔
Earlier, Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal while addressing a meeting on progress on mega corruption cases had said that Pakistan was facing the challenge of corruption which was the root of all the problems facing the country.
Chairman NAB said that NAB has no affiliation with any individual, party or any organization. The NAB belongs only to the country and it is only doing its duty.
Javed Iqbal had said that NAB gives top priority to the fight against corruption, NAB will bring to justice those who looted billions of rupees from the people through corruption.
Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) said that deserving people are deprived of their rights due to corruption, eradication of corruption has become the voice of the nation as it not only hinders development.
The Chairman NAB said that the modus operandi of NAB has been reviewed to make it a more credible institution. During October 2017 to August 2021, Rs. 538 billion has been directly and indirectly deposited in the national exchequer. ۔
Javed Iqbal also said that no anti-corruption agency has shown such performance. Since its inception in 1999, the NAB has received Rs 819 billion and deposited it in the national treasury.
Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal further said that 1274 corruption cases are pending in various NAB accountability courts with a total value of about Rs 1305 billion.
