One person has been hospitalized and three others have been arrested in connection with the early morning shooting at the Capellano Reserve in western Vancouver on Saturday.
According to a news release from the West Vancouver Police Department, the incident took place “early in the morning” on the 200 block of Ikwikws Road.
Police said the victim was taken to hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
According to the WVPD, all three suspects were detained “for a while” in Vancouver.
“At this time, all the suspects are believed to be in custody and there is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement.
In its own report, Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) claimed that a “serious incident” had taken place in X̱wemelch’stn, the country name for the reserve at the foot of the Lions Gate Bridge.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our injured member and his family and other members of the nation affected by this incident,” the Nation report said.
“We are committed to the safety and support of our community and will provide updates when appropriate.”
