It would be a departure from the more extensive back four system that saw Chelsea finish a barren stretch in front of goal scoring five goals in two matches.
Kepa Arrizabalga was left out last week, but could return behind a back three of Trevoh Chalupa, Thiago Silva and Wesley Fofana. Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to be recruited at right-back, with youngster Louis Hall on the opposite flank.
Enzo Fernandes should be joined by Connor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in midfield, as they support Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling.
“Injury-wise we’re pretty much the same as we have been lately, in that Mason, Reece, Chilly, N’Golo and Marc Cucurella are not fit,” said Lampard.
“Koulibaly has been training with us for the past week but maybe he’s not really ready for a match like this, but he’s ahead of schedule to be fair.
“Benoit injured himself in training two days ago, in the groin, and will miss the game.”
