A 24-year-old bike rider died in a road accident in Durg. The young man was coming fast and recklessly riding his bike. On the way his bike collided with the culvert. The young man fell into the canal after hitting the culvert. He died after lying unconscious for a long time under water. On the complaint of the relatives, the Bori police started investigation on Friday evening by registering a case against the deceased youth under section 304A.

According to the Bori police, Jitendra alias Jitu Thakur, a resident of Bhedsar village under Pulgaon police station at 8 o’clock in the night of December 30, 2021, died. Ajit Thakur (24 years) had gone to Temri village to drop off his acquaintance on a motorcycle. Leaving them from there he was coming back to Bhedsar. It is being told that he was riding the bike at a very high speed. As soon as he reached near village Potia canal bridge around 8.30-9 pm, he lost his balance and his bike CG 04 CB 5352 collided with the culvert. Due to this he suffered a lot of injuries and he fell into the water of the canal. He could not breathe due to being in the water for a long time and he died on the spot. Litiya Semaria outpost police sent the body for post-mortem after Panchnama action. The PM report also found the cause of death to be due to drowning.

Police got information too late

According to Litiya Semaria police, they got information about the accident quite late. The accident happened between 8.30-9 pm. Kamlesh Thakur, a resident of Bhedsar, gave it to the police around 1 pm. She told that at 9 pm, her aunt’s son Shekhar Thakur called her and told her that his brother Jitendra Thakur had fallen on the village Potia canal bridge and died. As soon as he got the information, he told the Sarpanch of the village Sagar Deshmukh and Durgesh Deshmukh about this. When everyone reached the spot together, they saw that the dial 112 people had taken my brother out of the canal and kept it on the roadside.

Had I been wearing a helmet, my life would have been saved.

It is being told that when Jeetu’s accident took place, he was not wearing a helmet. Had he been wearing a helmet, he would not have fainted from the head injury and would have survived by getting out of the canal water. A little carelessness on his part sent him to death. Since the death of a 24-year-old young boy, there has been a lot of mourning in the house.
