Citizens protest on worst load shedding in Karachi
KARACHI (92 News) – Citizens’ patience was reciprocated on the worst load shedding in Karachi. Citizens protested on Maripur Road against power and water cuts.
The demonstration caused the worst traffic jams. Police launched a baton charge on the protesters when the talks failed. Tear gas was also used. Protesters are also hurling insults at the police. When the police take action, the protesters take to the streets. When the police withdraw, the protesters blocked the Madi Porrod again. Police have opened the road six times since morning.
Police officials say the vehicles trapped in a traffic jam were looted during the protest. Police have arrested more than 20 people.
On the other hand, the protesters say that K Electric has made life a torment in the heat. There is no electricity during the day or at night. A woman died from police shelling, while police officials said the woman died at her home.
