The number of Corona patients worldwide has risen sharply this week. Worryingly, with the increase in the number of patients, the number of deaths has also increased by about 12 per cent.
According to AFP, the number of daily corona patients has increased by 44% this week compared to last week. The number of patients has reached a record 2.78 million. The ‘Omicron’ variant appears to be responsible for this dire situation and statistics.
The growth rate was 210 per cent in Asia, 142 per cent in the Middle East, 126 per cent in Latin America and the Caribbean and 59 per cent in Oceania.
In the United States and Canada, the number of corona patients has increased by 31%. The Philippines also recorded the highest increase of 327 per cent. This is followed by India at 321 per cent, Kosovo at 312 per cent, Brazil at 290 per cent and Peru at 284 per cent.
The number of patients in African countries is declining
Notably, South Africa, meanwhile, is the only country where the number of patients is declining and the situation is improving. There is a decrease of 11% in the number of patients.
For the second week in a row, Iswatini recorded the biggest drop in the number of patients in African countries. This is a decrease of 45%. Zambia is in second place with a 30 percent drop. South Africa dropped by 27 per cent, Namibia by 26 per cent and the UK by 25 per cent. Four South African countries were hit hard by the Omicron variant in early December, while the UK and Europe were among the worst affected.
