Defeated Kohli resigns as captain of Test team
Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has resigned.
Virat Kohli has announced his resignation from his Instagram account. “Honestly, captaincy, it’s time for the end of everything, it’s time for me to end my captaincy,” he said.
He said that Rohit Sharma could be a better captain for Test cricket.

The reason for Virat Kohli’s resignation is the failure of the Indian team in the ICC T20 World Cup and the Test series against South Africa.
He had informed the Indian Cricket Board of his decision even before the ICC T20 World Cup, after which his one-day captaincy was revoked. Now he has lost a Test series against South Africa. Due to this, the decision of Virat Kohli to resign has come to light.
Virat Kohli led the Indian team in 68 Test matches in which 40 wins, 17 losses and 11 matches ended in a draw.
Virat Kohli, now over 33 years old, has scored 7,962 runs at an average of 50 in 168 innings of 99 matches in Test cricket, including 27 centuries and 28 half-centuries.
He has an unbeaten 254 runs in Test cricket. Virat Kohli has scored 12,169 runs in 254 ODIs, including 43 centuries and 62 half-centuries.
Kohli has the highest number of 183 runs in ODIs which he scored against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2014. Virat Kohli has scored 3222 runs in 95 matches of T20 International which does not include any century. While 29 half centuries have been scored and 95 is their highest score.
