Demolition of Nusla Tower and Lock Heights will continue, Commissioner Karachi announced

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon has said that in the light of the orders of the Supreme Court, demolition work on Nasla Tower and Lock Heights will continue.

According to ARY News, on the orders of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the process of demolition of Nasla Tower on Shahra-e-Faisal Karachi has been started once again while the process of demolition of locker heights is also underway.

Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon visited Nusla Tower and Tajuri Heights to inspect the operation and also gave necessary instructions to the officers present there after inspecting the demolition operation.

Talking to media, the Commissioner Karachi said that the demolition proceedings would be completed on the orders of the Supreme Court and would submit a report on the demolition proceedings in the Supreme Court on Friday.

Earlier, the machinery had stopped work on the intervention and protest of Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi. Hafiz Naeem had stood on the spot and announced that contempt of court action should be taken against him.

It may be recalled that two days ago, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned the Commissioner Karachi during the hearing of the illegal encroachment case and strongly reprimanded him and ordered to demolish the Nasla Tower by noon.
