Denmark’s decline could open the door to Euro 2024 qualification for Northern Ireland | Pro IQRA News

With Denmark surprisingly knocked out of the World Cup at the group stage, I wonder could that be a good omen for Northern Ireland as the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign approaches?

I don’t think we can get away with the fact that they are top of our group and for some reason, but this little hiccup could show that they may have had big players on the decline. Kasper Schmeichel, Simon Kjaer and Christian Eriksen come to mind.

In addition, they lack a centre-forward who lives and thrives off of World Cup goalscoring with just one goal scored in their three matches. Last summer they had a fantastic Euro 2020 but there has been enough in their recent games for Northern Ireland to think they can get points from them, especially at home if everyone is fit and available.

In the successful qualifiers of 2016, Greece was in first place and was not at the same level as its predecessors, so maybe we will have the Danes in time.

I know it will be a lot of asking to get into the top two, especially after the last three years and poor results. Still, we have to live in hope, and if Michael O’Neal is reinstated, this could be the push everyone needs to make what seems impossible become possible.
