New Delhi: The Election Commission has banned election rallies and road shows in the five voting states till January 22, but has also allowed political parties to hold indoor gatherings of up to 300 persons. The Election Commission has banned the rallies and roadshows of political parties amid the rising corona infection during the assembly elections being held in five states. An Election Commission spokesperson said, the Election Commission has banned election rallies and road shows in the polling states till January 22.

An Election Commission spokesperson said, the ECI allows political parties to hold indoor meetings with a maximum of 300 persons or 50% of the hall’s capacity. Political parties will be able to hold virtual rally, now political parties will be more dependent on virtual and digital mode.
