An Egyptian producer raises controversy by commenting on the El Gouna fire: “There is a crane that fell in the Great Mosque of Mecca.”

The Egyptian film producer, Mohamed El-Adl, sparked controversy by commenting on the incident of the El Gouna Film Festival fire, which broke out on Wednesday, October 14, 2021, hours before the start of the festival.

The former head of Al-Ahly TV wrote a post on his official Facebook page, in which he compared the El Gouna Festival fire and the accident of the collapse of a crane in the Great Mosque of Mecca years ago.

But this comparison annoyed some of the Egyptian producer’s followers, who republished his post with comments criticizing the comparison between artistic concerts and performing religious cults, comments posted on Facebook, and also monitored by Egyptian newspapers such as “delegation“, And”Egyptian today“.

While others praised in the comments – which he closed to friends only – for linking the two events, to stop some critics of the bold looks of the artists, who considered the fire a divine wrath at these views.

It is noteworthy that at noon, on Wednesday, the pioneers of social networking sites and local newspapers shared videos and photos that documented the moment of the outbreak of the massive fire, which devastated the festival hall near the Hurghada area, in the city of El Gouna, owned by businessman Naguib Sawiris.

But the organizers of the festival quickly controlled the fire, and repaired the damage it caused. Businessman Naguib Sawiris – who finances the festival with his brother Samih – expressed his happiness with the success of the containment process, by publishing a picture of the place after removing the effects of the accident and re-painting, and wrote: “Amal Where is the fire?” He wrote, “Praise be to God,” in another tweet.

The activities of the fifth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival will start on the evening of Thursday, October 14, and will continue until the 22nd of the same month. The festival will witness the presence of a large number of stars, led by Yousra, member of the festival’s advisory committee, Laila Elwi, Somaya El Khashab, Ilham Shaheen, Hala Sedky, Tariq Lotfi, Mona Zaki, Nelly Karim, Anushka, Basma, Lebleba, Rogina, and Ashraf Abdel Baqi, Reham Abdel Ghafour, Naglaa Badr, Sawsan Badr, Ahmed Dash, Ahmed Daoud and Maya Diab.
