Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has suspended three scientists of the Central Drug Lab (CDL) for late submission of the investigation report in the case of sale of fake Remdesivir injections during the second wave of Corona. Apart from this, the Drug Controller General of India VG Somani has also been asked to be strict.

CDL is India’s largest laboratory for quality testing of drugs and vaccines. According to officials, it has now been learned that the three suspended scientists deliberately delayed the quality testing of Remdesivir.

Nine months delay in reporting
In this lab, quality reports of medicines are given on time and during the Corona period these reports were directed to be given sooner. But these scientists gave the report related to fake Remdesivir with a delay of 9 months. On June 2021, the Punjab Police caught a consignment of Remdesivir injections from Ropar. The development comes at a time when allegations of bribery are in the news in the Central Drug Quality Control Organization (CDSCO).
