Islamabad Police’s decision to deny the physical custody of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry was challenged in the city’s local court.
In the sedition case against PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, the prosecution filed an application challenging the decision to deny Fawad Chaudhry physical custody.
The petition filed challenges the decision of the Chief Justice Waqas Ahmed Raja.
The petition sought annulment of the judge’s order and further physical custody of Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry.
Sessions Judge Tahir Mehmood Khan, who issued notice to the parties at the request of the police, fixed the matter for hearing at 10 am. As the hearing began, the court ordered Fawad Chaudhry to appear by 12:30 p.m.
The court pointed out that the presence of the accused in the courtroom is necessary in the appeal of the physical custody procedure.
Yesterday, the court rejected Fawad Chaudhry’s request for further physical remand and sent him to Adiala jail for 14 days of remand.
It should be noted that a case was registered against Fawad Chaudhry in Islamabad. The case was registered at the Kohsar police station last night, January 24, Tuesday.
According to the registered case, an FIR was registered against Fawad Chaudhry for making a statement against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commission. The case against Fawad Chaudhry has been registered on the request of Secretary Election Commission.
The case contains provisions on car theft and threats. According to the text of the registered FIR, Fawad Chaudhry has said that the status of the Election Commission has become that of a minister. Fawad said the Election Commission is warning its members and families. The case against Fawad Chaudhry includes the provisions of 153A, 124A, 505 and 506.
