Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has been on the bandwagon since Saturday after showing up to the emergency department at Limerick University Hospital suffering from shortness of breath.
In social media posts, Carey said he had to cancel the constituency’s work “after spending the last two nights lying on a cart in the emergency department at Limerick University Hospital”.
“I was admitted by ambulance from my home on Saturday night. This was followed by a period of about 30 minutes where I was unable to breathe. This had never happened before and a bunch of tests were lined up for me. It appears to be an infection in my lung which is ironic – because I quit cigarettes 26 years ago day today!
“I get great care despite being in a cart and I want to thank the nurses, doctors, porters, catering and cleaning staff for their kindness and help.
“The ambulance crew were simply amazing and I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism and care. I hope to be out before too long.”
Mr. Curry, 47, has been a TD expert since 2007.
