First cricket match during the Taliban regime

Along with civilians, Afghan fighters would also enjoy the match

For the first time since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, a cricket match was played in the capital Kabul.

The Independence Day event in Afghanistan featured a friendly T20 match which was attended by a large number of spectators in the stadium.

The highlight of the friendly match was that Afghan fighters were seen enjoying the match along with civilians. The spectators also waved the flags of the Islamic Emirate along with Afghanistan.

It should be noted that the officials of the Afghan Cricket Board have clearly stated that cricket has the support of the Taliban. The Afghan Taliban retained the former cricket board chief.
