News Details

Amid the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, journalist Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi insulted and mocked Shiv Sena’s rebel leader Eknath Shinde on Twitter. However, when it was pointed out that he does not work for NDTV, the journalist turned to his former channel. Actually, Kazmi does not work in NDTV at this time. The channel had fired him (Kazmi) in the year 2017 itself, but his Twitter bio still reads Working with NDTV, which may give the illusion that he is working for the controversial channel.

Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi had made a derogatory tweet on Wednesday (22 June 2022) against Shinde, who is currently camping with all his MLAs at Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati, Assam. The journalist tweeted, “Compassion matters… Shinde will again become an auto driver… just listen to my words.”

The so called ex-journalist of NDTV took the help of his past to humiliate Shinde. Eknath Shinde was once an auto-rickshaw driver in Thane city adjoining Mumbai. In 1980, he was influenced by Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. He has thanked party founder Balasaheb Thackeray many times for his success in state politics. Shinde started his political career as an activist. He became one of the top leaders of Shiv Sena on the strength of his organizational skills and public support. Shinde, a four-time MLA, holds the urban development and PWD portfolios in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Shinde, 58, made his mark as a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena in Thane-Palghar, Maharashtra, in a short span of time after foraying into politics. He is known for aggressively raising public issues.

A user Varun Sharma (@LogicalHindu_) took to his Twitter handle to share a screenshot of Kazmi’s abusive tweet along with a screenshot of his Twitter bio. In this bio he still describes himself as a journalist of NDTV. Tagging the channel’s editorial director Sonia Singh, consulting editor Nidhi Razdan and news anchor Gargi Rawat Ansari, Varun Sharma wrote, “Nadeem Kazmi is a journalist for NDTV. Proud of you Sonia Singh, Nidhi Razdan and Gargi Rawat for teaching decency, etiquette and ethics to your colleagues.”

Twitter user Varun Sharma, in his second tweet, tagged Press Club of India asking if he supported the remarks made by its general secretary Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi.

NDTV Editorial Director Sonia Singh replied to Varun Sharma’s tweet saying, “Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi is not with NDTV since 2017.”

Sonia Singh’s reply has revived Kazmi’s old wound about the channel and she used very low level language for NDTV. Kazmi wrote, “The matter is under consideration. NDTV has been fined 10 thousand for not appearing in court. Please check with your lawyers. Thank you.” Another Twitter user asked him what has gone wrong between him and NDTV? To this, Kazmi claimed that he was fired by the channel in 2017 even though he had given his best contribution to the channel for two decades.

He did not stop there, while expressing his pain, he further said, “I stood firmly with the institute for 2 decades with complete honesty. did not shirk from his duties. But you know.. at that time I suffered a lot when I was forced to leave Delhi. At the end of my life at the age of 58, I have no source of income.

Kazmi himself had complained that the channel had wrongly fired him. In such a situation, it is very surprising that he still calls himself a journalist of NDTV. NDTV is written in his Twitter bio since 2017 i.e. for 5 years. Not only this, it is also written in his LinkedIn profile that he is on ‘Assignment in NDTV’.

Let us inform that Eknath Shinde, who is considered special from Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray to Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra, has spoiled the whole game of Uddhav Thackeray. Shiv Sena chief is on the one hand fuming with the MLAs switching sides and is scouring Mumbai in search of MLAs. The rebel leader coming out from under the nose of Uddhav Thackeray is joining the camp of Eknath Shinde, but the Shiv Sena chief is not even aware of it. Shiv Sena is not able to understand what to do and what to say in this fury? In the editorial of its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Shiv Sena has described the current political storm as a ‘dream defect’. The party has warned its rebels to be careful in time, or else they will be thrown in the garbage.
