Hamza Shahbaz’s election declared null and void Pi News

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted the petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and declared null and void the election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz. The decision was reserved after the hearing. A five-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard the case. Advocate General Punjab said that it would be premature to say whether the petitions were accepted or rejected. Only after the written decision will the whole situation become clear. On behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz, lawyer Mansoor Awan while PTI Amir Saeed’s lawyer appeared in the court and gave arguments. The President was represented by Ahmed Owais, Barrister Ali Zafar and Imtiaz Siddiqui of Speaker Pervez Elahi. During the hearing, Justice Shahid Jamil remarked that the interpretation of the Supreme Court would be applicable in the present circumstances. If we conclude that the decision applies to the past, we will issue immediate orders.
