Hertz plans to order up to 175,000 electric vehicles from General Motors over the next five years.

The agreement announced Tuesday covers electric vehicle deliveries through 2027 and will cover SUVs, pickups and luxury cars from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and BrightDrop. Deliveries are expected of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV to begin in the first quarter of next year.

“We are excited to partner with GM on this initiative, which will dramatically expand our EV offering to Hertz customers, including business and leisure travelers, rideshare drivers and enterprises,” Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said in a prepared statement.

Hertz’s current goal is a quarter of its fleet to be electrified by the end of 2024.

GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra believes this partnership will help create new electric vehicle customers.

“With the choice of vehicles, technology and driving range we provide, I am confident that each rental experience will further enhance purchase considerations for our products and drive the growth of our company,” he said.

GM said last year that it plans to go fully electric by 2035.
