Prosecutor’s Office of Cherkassy Region has legally claimed 65 hectares of forest land from the illegal possession of a former high-ranking official who served as the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine before the Revolution of Dignity. . This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, writes agronews.ua.

We are talking about 40 plots of land intended for forestry within the administrative boundaries of Bobritsk village council in Kaniv district. Their value is more than 1.5 billion UAH.

The fact of appropriating the lands of the forest fund was determined by the prosecutors. They were allocated to several people, and in 2005 they passed to the family of a high-ranking official. Therefore, they went from state to private ownership.

The prosecutor’s office responded to the violation of state interests and filed a lawsuit to return them to the state.

The dispute was heard twice by the Supreme Court. During this time, the defendants did not stop trying to preserve the illegally acquired right to the land that should belong to the state. They changed the cadastral numbers and configuration of plots. Court decisions were appealed and the trial was delayed.

At the end of 2022, according to the results of the review of the new case, the Kaniv City and District Court of Cherkassy region satisfied the prosecutor’s claim. However, the defendants appealed this decision again.

During the hearing of the case, the appellate court dismissed the appeal, and the decision of the first instance court remained unchanged. Now it has come into force.

The next stage of the prosecutor’s office will be the execution of the court decision – the state administration of the Cherkasy region will take the land into state ownership.
