Apurímac: Cotabambas residents await the arrival of Pedro Castillo and Mirtha Vásquez at the dialogue table

This Wednesday, October 13, community leaders and municipal authorities of the five districts of the province of Cotabambas, in Apurímac, await the arrival of the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo and the President of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vásquez, to resume the Negotiations on the Mining Corridor with the company MMG Las Bambas.

However, in a meeting minutes on October 5, in which the cabinet of former Prime Minister Guido Bellido and residents of Chumbivilcas del Cusco participated, a dialogue table with executive authorities is scheduled for today, but the residents of Cotabambas, apparently they have not been considered in the negotiations.

“The parties agree to establish mechanisms or commercial relationships to incorporate the rural communities of the road corridor of the province of Chumbivilcas into the value chain, through Community Enterprises, under the conditions, needs and requirements of the Las Bambas mining company, which include the following services: transport of concentrate, internal transport of people, road maintenance, cisterns to irrigate the road, yellow line and other services ”, read the agreements of October 5 in a meeting that lasted 2 hours at the Convention Center of Lime.

That same day, sources from the mining company “Las Bambas” reported that the residents of Chumbivilcas were being manipulated by interests unrelated to the dialogue, which has made it difficult to achieve a successful solution despite Bellido’s own initiative.

For his part, the mayor of the province of Cotabambas, Rildo Guillén Collado, in official letter No. 1366-2021-A-MPCT / A of October 7, ratified the invitation to Castillo and Vásquez for the work meeting in Pisaccasa, in the Mara district. Despite this, palace sources informed Caretas that the President of the Republic has no official activities scheduled for today and the premier leads the second session of the Council of Ministers, without confirming his attendance at the dialogue table.
