The Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, reported that on Thursday, October 14, he will meet with the rectors of the country’s public and private universities in order to reach the protocols that allow the progressive return to face-to-face classes.

In the framework of the press conference of the ministerial cabinet, Cevallos Flores, pointed out that 60.8% of the target population -that is, over 12 years old- are vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, while 46.9% are protected with both doses. Along these lines, he indicated that although all regions of Peru are at a moderate alert level, the population must continue to comply with biosecurity measures due to the presence of the delta variant, which represents 80% of infections and Delta Plus variant, although it specified that only two cases were registered in Lima.

On the other hand, he indicated that so far there are 2 million 184 thousand 664 cases and 199 thousand 672 deaths. Medical personnel will apply the third dose on November 15 to protect themselves from the high risk of contagion that their work entails.

Likewise, he indicated that the immobility schedule will begin at two in the morning and will end at four, so that restaurants and other businesses have more time to operate. Finally, he indicated that people who wish to make interprovincial trips, must have their two doses of the vaccine against the new coronavirus, in order to maintain care.
