Cairo – Al-Quds Al-Arabi: The Syrian actor, Jamal Suleiman, denied the recent reports of his decision to return to Syria, stressing that he will not decide to return except under a democratic system.
He wrote on his official Facebook page:
“Some sites are circulating a fabricated news that I have returned to Syria and this is not true, but it requires saying that Syria is my homeland and that I yearn to return to it as every person longs to return to his homeland, and it requires saying that we did not leave by our own will, but rather we were forced to leave under the influence of intimidation and threat. direct. Personally, I wish I would not leave my country, but at the same time, I would not be a false witness. It must also be said that the homeland is one thing and the political system is another. We will return to Syria when there is a democratic system that accepts differences and accepts accountability. A system based on transparency, rule of law and peaceful transfer of power. A system in which politicians see themselves as passers-by, but the homeland is staying.” Gamal Suleiman is a theater actor and director who achieved wide fame in the Arab world through his many works in Syrian drama, as well as through his successful participation in Egyptian drama.
He graduated from the Acting Department at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus and worked for several years in the Syrian National Theatre. After that, he decided to continue his studies at Leeds University in England, and obtained a master’s degree in theater directing, and returned to professional acting in television and cinema.
Among his most prominent films are “The Remaining” and “Al-Qurban”, and his series “The Palestinian Alienation”, “The Kings of the Taifas” and “The Godfather”. Jamal Suleiman had left Syria, after opposing the Syrian regime, President Bashar al-Assad and its practices, following the outbreak of the Syrian revolution.
