Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival was celebrated with great pomp in Uttarakhand for the second day. The celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth continued till midnight. Till late night chants of elephant, horse, palanquin, Jai Kanhaiya Lal kept echoing from temple to home.

Along with the worship, Laddu made Gopal swing. Artists decorated beautiful tableaux in the temples. Small children reached the temples dressed as Radha-Krishna. At some places the image of Lord Shiva was displayed in the dense clouds and at some places Holi was played with sticks and flowers.

31 artists from Mathura-Vrindavan mesmerized everyone by giving a captivating presentation at the Prithvinath Temple in Dehradun. Peacock dance, Dandiya Raas, Maharaas as well as Leela of Shri Krishna mesmerized everyone in the festival.


Apart from this, tableau of Maa Bhagwati and Hanuman tableau were the center of special attraction. Artists dressed as Radha-Krishna danced with burning lamps in their hands. Simultaneously, Matki Phod programs were also held at many places.


The temple committee rewarded the children who came dressed as Radha-Krishna to Shri Sanatan Dharma Mandir in Premnagar. Pradhan Subhash Mankin, Avtar, Ravi Bhatia, Vicky etc were present here. Lord Krishna’s aarti was performed in Chaitanya Gaudiya Math Temple located on DL Road. Beautiful tableaus were taken out at the Shri Pipaleshwar Mahadev Temple in Patel Nagar.


Yadav Samaj Vikas Samiti also organized a program on Shri Krishna’s birth anniversary at Jogiwala. During this, people got enthusiastic listening to the songs and music of the festival. As soon as Lord Krishna was born at midnight in the temples, there was a competition among the devotees to swing the cradle. Aarti of Lord Krishna was also performed in the same temple.
