Mohsin Sheikhani, chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers (Abad), has announced a halt to work on all construction projects.

In a statement issued to media, Chairman Abad said that work on all construction projects in Karachi is being stopped, despite completion of all documents, buildings are being declared illegal. That is why we are going to close all the projects in protest.

In his statement, he also said that today everyone is afraid that our buildings will be demolished. People are becoming insecure about their homes. Tell us which agency to get permission from. After which no institution is against it. We have to satisfy our investors, to restore the confidence of the common man. We have no other choice. We have stopped all projects.

According to Mohsin Sheikhani, it is the government’s job to check the buildings for any errors in their permits. Protests will spread across Pakistan, including Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur.

Hassan Sheikhani said that the confidence of investors has been severely affected. Completely regularized buildings are being demolished. People living in the buildings are afraid that the institutions should reconsider their decisions.

It is to be noted that the Supreme Court, while rejecting the report of Commissioner Karachi, has issued a written order regarding demolition of Nasla Tower in which Nasla Tower has been ordered to be demolished immediately and debris cleared.

The Supreme Court has said that the commissioner Karachi has not yet complied with the court order. If immediate action is not taken, action will be taken against the commissioner. The vault heights structure has been ordered to be demolished immediately and a report will be submitted today, November 26.
