Delhi’s Kejriwal government minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendar Jain, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, has been sent to judicial custody till June 9. The ED had arrested Jain on Monday (May 29, 2022) after questioning that lasted for nearly six hours.

According to the report, Special Judge Geetanjali Goel has remanded Satyendra Jain to ED custody in view of the need for custodial interrogation to unearth the larger conspiracy.

The ED probe is based on a 2017 case of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in which it was alleged that the AAP leader and his wife Poonam Jain earned an income of ₹1.47 crore between February 2015 and May 2017. acquired more property. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its investigation in the case of hawala transactions involving a Kolkata-based company had found that during 2015-16, Satyendar Jain was a public servant, then Kolkata-based entry through hawala to companies profitably owned and controlled by him. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Okhla, Delhi, Amanatullah Khan was also recently arrested for interfering in government work and inciting people. However, he was later granted bail. But on Friday (13 May 2022), a day after his arrest, the Delhi Police has declared him a bad character and a habitual offender, taking strict action against him.

In this case, it was alleged that in return for allowing this roof to be put up, the corporation councilor Geeta Rawat had demanded a bribe of Rs 20000. It was also alleged that the complainant was warned of dire consequences if he did not pay the bribe amount.

Former AAP councilor Nisha Singh

In the month of April this year, Nisha Singh, a former woman councilor of the Aam Aadmi Party in Gurugram, was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the court. Nisha is accused of instigating the mob in 2015, which attacked the police and the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) team that went to remove the encroachment. In this case 17 people including Nisha Singh were sentenced.

A Gurugram court sentenced 17 people, including a former woman councilor of AAP, to seven to 10 years in prison for attacking and pelting stones at a team that went to remove encroachments in 2015. A total of 19 people were accused in this case.
