Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed has said that the arrest of prominent human rights activist Khurram Pervez in occupied Kashmir is reprehensible.

It is pertinent to mention that Khurram Pervez, Chairman of Asian Federation, was arrested in Srinagar on Monday by the Indian Security Agency against the enforced disappearances. He also searched the office.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued from Brussels condemned the arrest of Khurram Pervez and said that Khurram Pervez has been pointing out human rights violations in occupied Kashmir for a long time.

He said that India could not cover up serious human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by using clever tactics.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU further said that Indian security forces are involved in war crimes against unarmed Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed said that we will continue to expose the real ugly face of India to the world. He demanded that international human rights organizations should put pressure on India for the release of Khurram Pervez.

He further said that the international community including the European Union and the United Nations should take immediate notice of the dire situation in Occupied Kashmir.

It should be noted that Khurram Pervez has won the International Award for Human Rights.

A close relative of his, Pervez Imroz Advocate, has also received Norway’s famous ‘Rafto’ award for his long struggle for the protection of human rights in occupied Kashmir.

Khurram Pervez and his team have published numerous reports on human rights in Occupied Kashmir. The Kashmir Council EU has forwarded their reports to major European bodies, including the United Nations and the European Parliament.

Khurram Pervez has visited several countries, including Belgium, to highlight human rights issues. A few years ago, he attended a conference in the European Parliament at the invitation of the Kashmir Council EU.
