The union beat relegation rivals Darmstadt 1-0 to move five points clear of the Bundesliga’s bottom three in the absence of first-team coach Nenad Bjelica, who began a three-match ban on Wednesday after pushing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane.

Bjelica was replaced by Danijel Jumic, whose assistant Eta became the first female coach in the history of the Bundesliga and Champions League this season to be actively involved with a men’s team – assisting him on the sidelines and attending the post-match press conference. .

Eta, who won the Women’s Champions League with Turbine Potsdam in 2010, previously worked in the youth team at Union.
